Strobist Lighting info and gear used: Nikon D700 with 24-70mm f2.8, Quantum T5Dr flash with 18in octagon box as main, Quantum Qflash Trio for fill, flashes triggered with Quantum Freewire system.
I took my son Kevin out and let him throw bread to the seagulls while I tried a few different lighting ideas. The concept was simple enough, “hey Kevin, go out on that sand bar and throw bread to the birds and I’ll get some cool pictures”… With someone else close by feeding them too, the birds were really standoffish although he was able to attract a few they didn’t come in as close as I would have liked.
While things didn’t work out the way I envisioned I was able to get a few, here is a small sample from the shoot.
